Our Staff

Jeff is the founding partner of Mitchell, Burns, Doyle & Co., P.C. He is a 1977 graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Jeff has been working in public accounting since graduation and obtained his CPA license in July 1980. In August 1993, Jeff founded Mitchell, Burns, Doyle & Co., P.C. Jeff is married to Linda, a retired school teacher, has two sons, Mike and Matt, and five grandchildren. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys golf, restoring cars, and jogging.

Sandy is a 1991 graduate of the University of Richmond with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Sandy began her career in private industry before moving to public accounting in 1999. Sandy obtained her CPA license in 1993. She has been with MCo in both a full-time and part-time role for several years. Sandy is married to Michael, also an accountant, and has two daughters, Jessica and Elizabeth. Sandy enjoys reading, working outside, and spending time with her family.

Matt is a 2002 graduate of Cornell University with a Ph.D in Geological Sciences and holds additional degrees and certificates from Trinity University, Washington University, and George Mason University in the fields of English Literature, Geology, and Accounting. After five years as a research scientist at the U.S. Geological Survey, Matt began working in public accounting in 2007 and obtained his CPA license in 2008. In the summer of 2013, Matt joined MCo and moved to northern Loudoun County where he enjoys a quiet country life with his wife, Claire, and his children, Will and Sarah.

Kara is a 2012 graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Information Systems. She was an intern for MCo the summer of her senior year and came on full time following graduation. Kara earned her CPA in 2017. In her spare time she enjoys the outdoors, horseback riding, sports, and spending time with friends and family.

Tonji is a 1997 graduate of George Mason University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She started working at MCo in 2016, and earned her CPA license in 1999. Tonji enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Taylor is a 2020 graduate of Virginia Tech with a Master of Accounting and Information Systems. She began her career in public accounting in 2020 and obtained her CPA license in 2021. Taylor is married to her husband, also named Taylor, who is a therapist. In her spare time, Taylor enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and dog.

John is a 2019 graduate of Longwood University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting. Following graduation, John worked part time for MCo and was brought on full time in January 2020. In his spare time he enjoys being outdoors, hiking, mountain biking, camping and spending time with family.

Garrett is a 2020 graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Information Systems. He was an intern for MCo the summer of his senior year and came on full-time following graduation. In his spare time enjoys playing guitar, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends.

Cassie joined MCo in 1998 as the company’s administrative assistant. Over the years, her role has greatly expanded to include tax preparation, payroll processing, and many other customized services for our clients. Cassie is married to Steve, a technical consultant and has two children, Abby and Keegan. In her spare time, Cassie enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Claire recently joined MCo in 2020 as a part-time Office Manager. She is a graduate of Cornell University, with a degree in Geological Sciences. She is married to W. Matthew Burns and is a mother to a son and daughter.  Her daughter attends William and Mary, studying Psychology. Claire enjoys breeding and showing her beautiful Rex, Dutch, and Brittania Petite rabbits.
